Some of the most commonly reported dreams are about cheating or being cheated on. They are also some of the most troubling dreams we can experience as they can be so real they actually impact on our feelings for our loved on. There dreams can be very valid, but in most cases they are not. The unconscious mind exhibits some powerful talents which could be that your unconscious mind picked up some signals that your conscious mind overlooked or possibly even blocked out. It does not necessarily mean that you are suddenly physic however.
Some simple things for instance can often signal a cheating spouse. Things that commonly signal a cheating boyfriend are a sudden change in wardrobe, or wearing a new cologne or even a sudden interest in fitness. These kinds of signals are often overlooked or blocked out, whereas the unconscious mind took cognizance of them during the day, and the transmitted the message during your dream state. In most cases however, a dream about a cheating boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse is possibly not about the spouse at all, but rather triggered by underlying feelings such as insecurity, guilt or anxiety by the one experiencing the dreams.
Dreaming about catching your boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse with another person possibly could indicate or point to deep seated anxiety. Possibly you are worried about your appearance or have doubts about how attractive you are or have feelings of guilt. In many instances, the feelings of guilt are not even attributable to your relationship. They can stem from other actions such as not working as well as you could be or maybe you cheated at a test or lied to your boss. The cheating is therefore only a symbol of the guilt you already feel, not a prediction of what could occur in the future.
Dreams about a boyfriend cheating are know as fear based dreams, which can or do stem from acts that you have committed unrelated to your partner. These dreams can also be the result of a childhood fear of abandonment. Children from divorced parents, or children who have experienced the loss of one or both parents are in a category that experience fear based dreams more than the average individual.
Having stated the above, it is extremely important to work through these issues to identify whether the dream is caused by events mentioned above, or whether there is an indication that there could be infidelity in the relationship.
The point here is not to immediately suspect infidelity, but to rather work through the points above and arrive at a sound conclusion. In many cases dreams have resulted in the detection of a cheating partner.
